Lesson: Standing Out in a Crowded Marketplace

It’s difficult to stand out in a crowded marketplace, and the financial services industry is more competitive than most. Independent financial advisors who represent multiple brands get the same old gifts, year after year, and it’s difficult to get their attention.

This makes life difficult as the advisors are a key part of the success of any one brand, and influencing their decision making as much as possible can help deliver results to a brand’s bottom line. This was the situation IA Clarington faced when they contacted AOK back in 2008 for IA Clarington branded name badges.

They wanted to communicate their message in a unique way. Not just printing the logo in a different spot, but by coming up with something that their advisors would be interested in, would care about, and wouldn’t throw away.

IA Clarington wanted their advisors to be proud of the company they represent, and AOK was tasked to deliver on their brand promise. In this case, as in most cases, the product they were giving out was just as important as their logo representation on the product.

So, we found something they loved. We searched through thousands of options on their behalf, and found a unique product through our US office. So much so, we’ve been delivering on this idea for the better part of a decade.

By taking the time and truly understanding what they were trying to accomplish, we are proud that every new advisor welcomed to the IA Clarington team is presented with a beautiful gift provided by AOK for the world to see.

How a Top 100 Employer Rewards Their Employees

In 2017, for the sixth consecutive year, Desjardins Group has been rated one of Canada's Top 100 Employers by Mediacorp Canada. The distinction recognizes best practices and innovation in human resource management.

To stay at the top of their game, Desjardins Insurance were looking to inspire and reward top internal employees for exhibiting desired client-centric behavior. Their internal team of experts decided a gift should be presented to those top performers to serve as a reminder and motivate others to exhibit similar behavior in the future.

They had a tight budget, a short delivery time, and wanted something that exemplified their brand and messaging. So the lead client experience expert at Desjardins did what most people do, she went to Google to search for solutions to this problem.

During her search, she found our website,, and liked some of the award options there. With thousands of options to choose from, a phone call was in order to help narrow things down. A quick call and several emails back and forth later, and they selected Donald Spiral Bound Journal Combo (Journal & Pen). It came in under-budget, and arrived early. Quality and decoration of the products were superb too.
